In the Shop: We’re All Mad Here…

This is an experiment with the classic C.S. Lewis character from Alice in Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat. It was conceived from the start as a purple body and the concept of the Cheshire Cat came to me all at once. I first thought that just the laser burn courtesy of Double.U.Studio.Design would do the trick. And then I got it back from Greg and thought it needed something. Aha! It needs the glowing cat eyes that appear as the cat disappears in front of Alice. So after a bit of masking, the eyes got primer, then yellow undercoat, then several coats of glow-in-the-dark yellow, and I liked it a lot. But it wasn’t enough, and I wasn’t confident that it needed the white teeth as well, so I took a poll. The results were unanimous: the cat needed GITD teeth as well. I found that white GITD paint is not as readily available as yellow. Who knew? But I also found that you can buy different colored GITD powder to add to regular paint and so I took the plunge. This is where we are today and I love it. It needs TV Jones style pickups, I think. How about you?
